The Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet) participated in a meeting organised by the African Freedom of Expression Exchange (AFEX) on the sidelines of FIFAfrica with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information, Commissioner Ourveena GeereeshaTopsy-Sonoo.

Mr Edetaen Ojo, the Chairperson of AFEX moderated the session providing an opportunity to discuss the Special Rapporteur’s priorities during her tenure in terms of the issues as well as the countries and seek her guidance on how we can support her work.

In addition, civil society stakeholders in the region discussed with her measures that can be adopted in response to the relentless attacks across the continent on freedom of expression, the media, journalists and other human rights defenders engaged in the peaceful exercise of their rights.
