Unmasking The Trolls: Research on Online Gender-Based Violence in Kenya

This report examines the issue of online gender-based violence (OGBV) in Kenya, which affects marginalized groups such as people with disabilities and LGBTQ+ people. The report uses survey and focus group data to explore the nature, prevalence, impact, and legal framework of OGBV in rural and urban areas. The report finds that OGBV is a gendered phenomenon that can have negative physical and emotional consequences for the victims and that it can be motivated by various factors such as personal, political, or monetary reasons.
